(INDIANAPOLIS) - State police have added two names to their annual roll call of fallen troopers.

A four-person honor guard led troopers in ceremonies at the law enforcement and firefighters memorial. That memorial now includes the names of 45 state police officers.

David Rich was gunned down last July by a driver he'd stopped to help on U.S. 24. And in January, Daniel Barrett crashed and died during a chase on U.S. 31.

Trooper Eugene Teague was the first trooper killed in the line of duty -- he was shot to death during the capture of a member of John Dillinger's gang in 1933, ISP's first year of existence. Since then, 17 more troopers have been murdered, 23 have died in highway crashes, one in a plane crash, one in an accidental shooting, and two from heart attacks while trying to arrest suspects.
