Non-Profits Seeing Fewer Donations

(UNDATED) - Increased costs for energy and food are forcing families to cut back spending elsewhere. What it’s also leading to is decreased donations to non-profits.

Mike Rowland with the Salvation Army says they are seeing a downturn in donations, but there's a catch: more requests for help because of the sluggish economy and more lay-offs.

Rowland says social service programs always take a hit when the economy slows down. Several months ago, Salvation Army officials warned that some programs would be halted because of low donations.
