Bloomington District Added To Endangered Historic Sites
(UNDATED) - A statewide list is calling attention to irreplaceable sites in jeopardy.
The Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana has released its annual 10 Most Endangered List of historic sites on the verge of extinction because of neglect, deterioration, abandonment and urban sprawl.
There's four new listings; Indianapolis' Bush Stadium, the Old Lowell Grade School, Maple Grove Road Historic District in Bloomington and the Syracuse Depot.
Since the inception of the most endangered program in 1991, the foundation claims 46 saves and 10 losses.
Returning to the list this year, Colgate-Palmolive Plant and Clock in Clarksville, Jennings Building in New Castle, Indianapolis Public School #97, Twin Bays in Lawrenceburg, the Washington Avenue Historic District in Evansville and Wollenmann House in Ferdinand.
