(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indianapolis man could spend 16 years in prison after being sentenced for a high-profile carjacking case.

46-year-old Jeffery Burger said little in court Thursday as the sentence was handed down. Burger carjacked 22-year-old Cidney Smith in a mall parking lot last summer.

Burger must also pay more than $6,000 dollars in restitution for stealing Smith's vehicle and later totaling it.

Cidney Smith made national headlines when she dialed 911 out of Burger's view and kept dispatchers on the phone. She eventually got out of the car while it was moving.

Burger is also banned from setting foot in Noblesville as part of the sentence.
