Voting Officials Expect Record Turnout In Indiana Primary
(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana’s primary is likely to follow other states in shattering turnout records.
The Marion County Clerk's Office had mailed out 7,100 absentee ballots as of midday Monday.
The deadline to request a mail-in ballot was the close of business on Monday. An additional 2,500 voters have cast in-person absentee ballots. In-person voting continues until the day before the election, with several clerk's offices, including Marion County, staying open this weekend to accommodate voters.
Clerk Beth White says the 9,600 absentee votes are nearly as many as were cast in last year's mayoral election, and more than at least the last three primaries.
Lawrence County Clerk Myron Rainey says polls will remain open at the courthouse this Saturday from 8:30am to 3:30pm.
