Mother Calling For Police Officers Firing

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The mother of a teen kicked in the head at last summer’s Indiana Black Expo is demanding action - she and community leaders want the police officer responsible fired.

Fredereka Hill says her son, Bryan Jeter, is still recovering from being kicked while he was handcuffed by officer Adam Chappell. Chappell received a diversion agreement at the end of March.

Officials with the Marion County prosecutor's office say Chappell has to re-do some of his police training, particularly the part about subduing suspects. If he doesn't hold up his end of the bargain, the case will continue.

Prosecutors say diversion agreements are common in cases where it's a misdemeanor offense and there's no prior criminal history.

Hill says her son deserves justice and firing Chappell would send a message to the community that police brutality won't be tolerated.

The incident was caught on video.

Pastor David Greene of the Second Baptist Church says he has had contact with IMPD internal affairs about the case and wants to talk with the mayor's office.
