Indy Zoo Loses 11-Year-Old Polar Bear
Last updated on Friday, April 11, 2008
(INDIANAPOLIS) - An eleven-year-old polar bear named “Triton” has died at the Indianapolis Zoo.
The zoo's veterinary staff says the animal died because of a twisted colon--always an emergency, and sometimes fatal.
"Triton" was in the process of being moved to the zoo hospital for possible exploratory surgery--when he collapsed and died late Thursday morning.
