Suicide Rates Drop In Vanderburgh County

(EVANSVILLE) - Promising figures have been released about the decline in suicides in Vanderburgh County.
Numbers of suicides in the first two months of 2007 when compared to the same period this year have been cut in half. Vanderburgh County Deputy Coroner Annie Groves says in addition, numbers of people seeking more information on suicide and how to prevent it have risen.
Groves says it is because of the increased awareness organizations and groups have brought to the suicide problem that more information is available and more residents are seeking that information out.
Anyone who is struggling with feelings of suicide or depression is urged to call the National Suicide Hotline at 800-273-TALK.
