(INDIANAPOLIS) - The U.S. Supreme Court is deliberating an Indianapolis case.

The high court heard oral arguments Wednesday morning on the case of Ahmad Edwards. Edwards was convicted of shooting two people and attempting to shoplift. He was twice found mentally incompetent to represent himself, but was later declared competent.

Attorney General Steve Carter says they want the high court to uphold Edwards' conviction. Edwards' convictions were later overturned because the trial court refused to let him represent himself.

There is no word yet on when the Supreme Court will issue a ruling. The current session ends June 30th.
