20 Years Later, Man Faces Murder Charges
(BRAZIL) - 20 years after the murders of a Brazil man and his 16-year-old stepdaughter, a grand jury has indicted a former acquaintance of the girl.
John Lovett of Brazil was 17 when Ricky Mustard and Tonya Pickett were found shot to death in their home -- he faces two counts of murder.
The charges come after two special prosecutors relaunched the investigation earlier this year, interviewing more than 260 witnesses.
State Police say grand jury secrecy rules prevent them from discussing a suspected motive, or what enabled them to arrest a suspect after two previous attempts to solve the case.
Lovett faces a minimum of 45 years in prison if convicted. Prosecutors haven't said whether they'll seek the death penalty.
