Woman In Dragging Accident Dies, No More Charges Can Be Filed
(LAFAYETTE) - A Lafayette woman seriously injured in 2006 when a motorist struck her and dragged her 450 feet under his sport utility vehicle has died.
Twenty-three-year-old Eva Phillips died Monday at Home Hospital in Lafayette. She had been in a wheelchair since being run over in a Lafayette parking lot.
Prosecutors say they can't file additional charges against the man who pleaded guilty in the crash.
Twenty-two-year-old Octavius Alexander was sentenced to seven years in prison last July.
