Welfare Supervisor Arrested For Fraud

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A former state welfare case supervisor is facing charges of defrauding the government of $36,000 in food stamps and other benefits.
36-year-old Julie Stanton of Richmond was arrested Monday and charged in neighboring Henry County with two felony counts of welfare fraud. The charges carry a possible sentence of two to eight years in prison.
State officials say that Stanton was a supervisor at the Division of Family Resources in New Castle in 2006 when she arranged to receive food stamps and temporary assistance for needy families funds.
