(INDIANAPOLIS) - It appears the Indianapolis Public School students who claimed their bus driver hit them last week were lying.

After surveillance tapes surfaced, the kids admitted they made up the story about Charles Areh. On the tape, Areh is seen trying to get the kids to settle down and quit throwing candy.

Areh did raise his hand to one of the kids, but didn't follow through. IPS Spokeswoman Mary Louise Bewley says the incident is under investigation.

Areh is a temporary driver and may end up being dismissed.

The kids who admitted to lying are now facing five-day suspensions from the bus.
