State Police Ignore Car, Man Dies In Freezing Conditions
(GARRETT) - A woman who alerted Indiana authorities about a wrecked car says if sheriff’s deputies had investigated a little more, she thinks a 66-year-old epileptic man would not have died — and his 14-year-old autistic grandson would not have had to sit all night in freezing temperatures.
Police say when authorities saw the wrecked car, they mistook it for a vehicle belonging to someone gathering firewood.
Nearly a day later, the body of Duane Squire was found outside his car. The grandson was alive, after getting in the car overnight.
