Police Combat Sex Predators By Educating Doctors And Parents

(NOBLESVILLE) - The problem of internet sex predators is growing at an alarming rate and Central Indiana law enforcement are using a new tactic - getting the message to medical professionals and parents.
Detective Mike Widner is with Noblesville Police and the Hamilton County Internet Sex Crimes Task Force. Widner says Hamilton County has three full-time detectives on their task force and needs more resources to combat the problem.
He says while it's hard for parents to limit what their kids do on the 'net, it is easy for parents to take a more active role in general.
One in four kids is exposed to sexually graphic material on the internet. One in seven will be solicited for sex.
Widner spoke to a group at Methodist Hospital this week about what can be done to keep kids safe on the web.
