(CHARLESTOWN) - A volunteer fire department in Southern Indiana has resumed using inmates from a minimum-security prison to bolster its firefighting force.
The Charlestown Volunteer Fire Department had halted the practice of using the Henryville Correctional Facility inmates in December after residents complained.
Chief Lee Slaughter says residents had objected to inmates being allowed into private homes.
