Rainfall And Melting Snow Cause Flooding Throughout State
(UNDATED) - High amounts of rainfall and melting snow in several parts of the state are causing flooded roads.
State police have a few tips on how to avoid danger when driving in the threat of a flood. State Police Sergeant Anthony Emery says first of all not to travel in a flood unless necessary. If you have to drive, take a cell phone in case you get stuck.
Sergeant Emery says problems occur in very small amounts of water. Cars can hydroplane in as little as two inches and vehicles have been swept away in six inches of floodwater.
If you find yourself stranded, remain calm and call 911.
