Nappanee Residents Receive State Aid Following October Tornado

(NAPPANEE) - The city of Napanee was turned down for federal disaster aid, but Nappanee has received $198,000 dollars in state help with the costs of October’s tornado cleanup.

It's the first time Indiana has tapped a disaster relief fund created two years ago with money from a new fireworks fee.

Nappanee Mayor Larry Thompson and Governor Daniels toured the areas hardest hit by the tornado.

Thompson says the Franklin Coach RV Company is still pondering whether to reopen, but for the most part, he says you'd almost have to know where the tornado hit to spot the damage.
