Indy Leaders Honor Dr. King

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Religious and community leaders honored Dr. Martin Luther King and raised awareness for the Indy’s janitors in a service at Christ Church Cathedral yesterday.
The janitors have been fighting for better wages and benefits. Leaders of all faiths gathered to remember King and to also show their support for the janitor's efforts.
The average janitor makes less than $10,000 a year and nearly none of them have health coverage.
City-County Councilman and congressional candidate Andre Carson was one of many speakers urging employers to use the teachings of Dr. King to better the lives of janitors.
Other events for MLK Day included a mock civil rights march at the Children' Museum in Indianapolis.
The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute youth theatre ensemble presented 3 shows of the children's civil rights movement.
