Greenwood Men Convicted Of Fraud
(INDIANAPOLIS) - The co-owner of a Greenwood health-insurance business has been sentenced to four years in prison for looting the company’s premiums.
Carmelo Zanfei's sentence follows a four-year sentence for his partner at TRG Marketing, William Crouse. The two men pleaded guilty to embezzling $1.2-million dollars, and to charges of money-laundering.
TRG ran health plans in 44 states, but closed its Greenwood headquarters in 2001 amid a string of complaints that it wouldn't pay claims.
Zanfei and Crouse were both convicted in Florida of racketeering. They'll be allowed to credit the time they served in that case against their federal sentences.
