Cancer Support Organization Receives Generous Gift

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Wellness Community - Central Indiana announces it has received a $100,000 gift from the Efroymson Fund to support the organization’s center for cancer support, currently under construction on the Northside of Indianapolis.

The gift is among the top ten received for the organization's "Building Beyond Cancer" capital campaign. All totaled, these top ten gifts have an impact of $1 million toward the $3.5 million capital campaign goal. Donations raised to date for the project total more than $1.5 million, with a significant amount of additional in-kind contributions from building contractors working on the facility.

The Wellness Community- Central Indiana is a non-profit organization offering free programs of support, education and hope for people with cancer and their loved ones.

After more than a decade of sustained growth, the organization is out of space at its current 3,500 square foot facility at Keystone at the Crossing. The new, nearly 8,000 square foot facility will include a dedicated movement/ exercise room, an education seminar room and a kid-friendly art therapy room.

The facility ground breaking was in April and staff is anticipated to move into the new building in March 2008, with a grand opening in June 2008.
