(SOUTH BEND) - A South Bend police officer indicted on federal cocaine charges has resigned.

Jamie Buford had been on paid leave for a year-and-a-half. The city's public safety board was about to consider whether to revoke his pay. He told superiors he's worn out by media coverage of the charges against him.

Buford and former Saint Joe County sheriff's deputies Ryan Huston and Andrew Taghon are accused of stealing cocaine from the mobile home of a man they knew was behind bars. Taghon and a fourth man have been charged with selling stolen guns.
