FFA Members Plant Trees In Indy Area

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Nearly 200 FFA members planted trees and shrubs along the Fall Creek Corridor in Indianapolis as a part of the Second Annual National FFA Days of Service.

Jeff Ward is the Environmental Education Administrator for Indy Parks. He says this year's beautification effort marks the second year in a 7-year partnership between Indy Parks and the National FFA Convention.

Servitude and volunteerism are large components in the FFA program. Ward says the relationship saves the parks program thousands of dollars on labor costs and gives the kids an opportunity to give back while learning about Indiana's environment.

FFA members from Batesville, Indiana and Loganville, Georgia spent Thursday afternoon planting trees indigenous to Indiana.

Indianapolis is hosting the 80th National FFA Convention, featuring over 55,000 students, adult advisors, and industry sponsors from across the country.
