Study Looks At Separate Truck Lanes For I-70

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - The U.S. Department of Transportation has set aside five-point-eight-million dollars to study two highway projects affecting Indiana.
The 66-million-dollar "Corridors of the Future" program is aimed at encouraging projects to reduce highway congestion, especially through private leases like Indiana's toll road deal.
DOT has approved five-million dollars to study the addition of trucks-only lanes on I-70 through Indiana and three other states.
Another 800-thousand will go to a study of an extension of I-69 all the way to the Mexican border. A third Indiana project, the proposed Illiana Expressway running south of Chicago, was a finalist but didn't make the cut.
