State Troopers Advise Safety During Harvest Season
(UNDATED) - The Indiana state police have released a number of driving tips for farmers and drivers during harvest season.
State police want to remind drivers farm machinery along fields can unexpectedly turn onto public roads, and that farm machinery often doesn't travel above 25 miles per hour.
However, they also remind farmers that, when taking machinery onto the roadways, if 3 or more vehicles are behind, that machine must pull to the right.
Automobile drivers should always check to see where the machinery is going before they pass, especially since operators may be turning their equipment to the left into a field, as opposed to a noticeable roadway.
Extra patience and defensive driving will help prevent farm equipment collisions.
