(UNDATED) - The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is combing through 27 pre-proposals recently submitted to the Lake Michigan Coastal Program for the 2008 funding cycle.

The Coastal Advisory Board decides which local government, regional and state agencies, colleges and universities, and non-profit organizations should receive grants to help protect and restore the coast of Lake Michigan.

LMCP Program Manager Mike Molnar says the group awards up to $750-thousand dollars in competitive grants each year.

Among others, LMCP has received pre-proposals from the Lake County parks for wetland restoration and land acquisition. The final projects will be picked sometime next year.
