Creek Restoration Celebrated
(HAMILTON) - Some Northeast Indiana residents are celebrating the restoration of a creek that was contaminated by a diesel fuel spill 14 years ago.
Thousands of gallons of fuel spilled into Fish Creek north of Fort Wayne from a ruptured pipeline in a Dekalb County soybean field in 1993, killing or endangering fish, mussels and other species.
With help from 2.5 million dollars that the oil companies paid to settle the damages, more than 1,500 acres of the stream's watershed has been restored and protected.
