Allen County Department of Health May Start Charging For Services
Last updated on Tuesday, September 18, 2007
(FORT WAYNE) - The Fort Wayne-Allen County Department of Health may soon charge residents for some services that were previously free, such as immunizations and lead screening.
Officials say funding for immunizations isn't keeping up with demand, and the department will lose funding if it doesn't charge for lead screening.
They say an influx of Burmese refugees needing treatment for tuberculosis is also placing a greater burden on local health agencies.
