Yellowwood Auctioned To Highest Bidder
Last updated on Friday, August 17, 2007
(NASHVILLE) - Tracts of yellowwood, Morgan-Monroe state forest trees have been auctioned off.
The State Department of Natural Resources sold six tracts of timber over objections from protesters. The clash highlighted a disagreement about how state lands should be managed.
Members of The Indiana Forest Alliance said commercial logging is inappropriate on state-owned lands. However, a state forester says a well-designed logging plan helps keep forests healthy.
