State Fair To Purchase Ag-Artwork
(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana State Fair will continue to purchase one art piece from the fine arts competition in what they hope will become an on-going tradition.
In 2006, the fair board decided to purchase a selection from the arts competition for permanent display in the administration building.
The piece, created by Melinda Spear-Huff, depicts the headshot a limousine cow with a mouthful of straw looking any observer of the painting in the eye.
Fair spokesman Andy Klotz says the board will purchase a new painting for permanent display from the competition each year.
Klotz says the selected piece doesn't have to be a ribbon winner as last year's piece only received an honorable mention. However, he says the piece would definitely have to reflect Indiana agriculture.
