(INDIANAPOLIS) - Former shipmates of the USS Indianapolis gathered at the Indiana World War Memorial in Indianapolis.
The event was held Saturday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of a gallery of artifacts from the heavy cruiser's sinking in 1945.
The ship was responsible for delivering components of the atomic bombs that would ultimately end World War II.
The museum exhibit is scheduled to formally open to the public in mid-August.
