State Improving Interstate Safety

(UNDATED) - The Indiana Department of Transportation will spend about 20 million dollars to install new cable barriers in an effort to reduce serious cross-over median crashes on Indiana interstates.
INDOT spokeswoman Megan Tsai expects the 150-mile project to save several lives by preventing more than 100 serious accidents on Indiana interstates every year.
The barriers will be placed on stretches that have been identified as hotspots for cross-over crashes on Interstate 65, I-69, and the Indiana toll road.
Tsai expects the new barriers to be completed within the next two years, making Indiana the leader in a national effort to improve highway safety.
