New Seat Belt Law Starts July 1st

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Governor’s Council of Impaired and Dangerous Driving, Indiana Criminal Justice Institute’s Executive Director Mike Cumegin is announcing a two-week crackdown on impaired and unrestrained driving.

Effective July 1st all passenger motor vehicles occupants will be required to wear a seat belt regardless of where they are seated in the auto. Pickup truck drivers and their passengers are also now required to buckle up.

Police across the state will conduct sobriety checkpoints in addition to saturation patrols and other increased enforcement activities to make sure everyone is adhering to the law.
