(INDIANAPOLIS) - The wife of an Indianapolis man shot during a pit bull attack Sunday describes the incident as “senseless.”

41-year-old Michael Haynes junior tried using a rolling pin to stop the dog fight between the pit bull and a neighborhood dog. But, his wife Stacy, says that is when the owner of the pit bull pulled out a gun, shooting her husband twice. It happened in Haynes' front yard.

As shots rang out, Haynes watched her husband fall to the ground. However, she was not the only one to witness the shooting. Her children, ranging in age from three-years-old to ten-years-old also saw it happened.

Michael Haynes is on a ventilator this morning at Wishard Hospital. Meantime, Haynes wants the man who shot her husband brought to justice, and she doesn't blame the dog.

Instead, she blames its handler and says he could have done something to stop his dog from mauling the smaller dog.

The wife of the victim is asking anyone with any information on the crime to contact police.
