(MISHAWAKA) - Mishawaka is grieving for one native son who served in Iraq, and keeping an eye on the fate of another.

The body of Air Force Technical Sergeant Ryan Balmer returned home this morning, six days after he was killed by a roadside bomb. He'll be buried on Thursday.

Meanwhile, a hearing has begun in California on whether Marine Lance Corporal Justin Sharratt should face a court-martial over the deaths of 24 Iraqi civilians in Haditha.

Sharratt is one of three marines charged with unpremeditated murder. The unit has said the Marines were taking fire from insurgents and trying to put a stop to it.
