(FORT WAYNE) - Allen County Sheriff Ken Fries presented county commissioners this week with his vision for a new outdoor training facility.

The 200 acres near the Adams Center Landfill on Fort Wayne's southeast side would house two driving courses, two shooting ranges, and a K-9 training facility. The county would spend up to $475,000-dollars for the land. The rest of the cost would be covered by grants and donations.

Fries says renting the facility to other police agencies and the public could generate 7- million dollars a year for the county. He believes the facility could be used by the public and could draw visitors to the Fort Wayne area.

Sheriff Fries will formally ask county council to fund the project next week. Construction could begin this fall.
