Social Worker Is Honored After Fighting Cancer
(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana University Cancer Center is honoring its patients as part of National Cancer Survivors Day.
Social worker Jane Powers is a 17-year cancer survivor and says treatment is not just doctors and radiation, but a whole support program, including psychologists and nutritionists.
Pepper Kent is currently an in-patient at the center after fending off cancer for 11 years. She says a support system is important to help maintain a good quality of life.
32,000 patients a year come through the center.
