Suicide Rate Rising for Hoosier Teens
(UNDATED) - A new report shows the suicide rate for Indiana teenagers has surpassed the number of adolescents who die in homicides.
Among Hoosiers aged 15 to 19, suicide rates exceed the national average. Indiana Youth Institute CEO Bill Stanczykiewicz says suicide rates among teens are a startling trend nationwide.
Stanczykiewicz says parents and siblings need to be aware of warning signs like teens expressing feelings of isolation or worthlessness. He says students which use drugs or alcohol or have parents who experience drastic mood swings may be at greater risk.
