Killer Of Officer's Daughter Arrested
(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indianapolis Metro Police say the man arrested this weekend on charges of killing an IMPD officer’s daughter admitted burning and dismembering the corpse, and disposing of the remains in garbage bins along the city’s southeast side.
Detectives are asking for help from members of the public who might have seen 23-year-old Joshua Bean making the rounds of eight-to-ten dumpsters on April 13, eleven days before 20-year-old Heather Norris was reported missing.
Bean was scheduled to stand trial next Monday on a domestic-battery charge involving Norris. Police say it was the second time he'd been charged with battering her, and the third time a domestic-violence report had been filed.
A protective order issued late last year was still in place, but police say Norris had returned to Bean on her own.
Police say undisclosed forensic evidence led them to reclassify the case as a homicide last week. They immediately zeroed in on Bean, who detective Todd Lappin says was preparing to leave the country when he was arrested.
Norris was the daughter of an IMPD accident investigator.
