Cold Temperatures Could Hinder State Crops
Last updated on Monday, April 09, 2007
(WEST LAFAYETTE) - Crop experts at Purdue University say temperatures that were in the teens this weekend could hurt fruit tree buds and damage crops such as winter wheat and alfalfa.
The winter wheat planted last fall may produce fewer seeds if it's damaged, but experts say it's too early to say whether that crop production will be hampered.
