Muncie Railroads To Be Relocated

(MUNCIE) - Officials in Muncie are working toward relocating noisy trains that stop traffic in the city.
Delaware County commissioners have signed a nearly $97,000 dollar agreement with an engineering firm to study railroad relocation. Federal aid will pay for 80-percent of the study.
Mark Turner, project manager for the city's engineer's office, says a $2.1 million dollar railroad "quiet zone" for downtown Muncie remains on schedule.
The project is slated for a 2008 completion. There are currently at least 20 railroad crossings in the downtown area alone.
