New State Policy Adds Charges For Vaccines

(UNDATED) - Medical officials across Indiana are concerned about outbreaks of meningitis, flu and other diseases in Hoosier children.
A new state policy plans to charge some parents for vaccines that are recommended but not required. State-mandated vaccines against measles, polio and chickenpox will remain free.
Families will be charged for recommended vaccines unless they are poor enough to qualify for Medicaid. Optional vaccines can range from $25 to $90 a shot. The policy change is expected to take place next month.
