INDOT Corrects Posted Mistake

(INDIANAPOLIS) - INDOT says the names and social security numbers of about four-thousand of its employees were accidentally posted on the internal INDOT computer network.
INDOT spokesman Andy Deitrich says anytime names and social security numbers are together, there's concern. He says the public did not have access to the information that was discovered by an employee--only INDOT employees with computer access and a limited number of third-party contractors could access the information.
The data was available on the internal network between September 6th and December 4th; however, the problem has since been corrected. The INDOT commissioner sent home a letter with affected employees, suggesting as a precaution, they may want to contact the credit bureaus and place a fraud protection alert on their accounts.
