(MUNCIE) - Governor Daniels attended a very important lunch date in Muncie over the weekend.

He met with 113-year-old Bertha Fry, the eight-oldest person the world who lives in an assisted-living apartment at the Westminster Village Health Care Center.

He also surprised Fry by presenting her with a Sagamore of the Wabash. Fry says she didn't do anything to receive the award other than get old. She also says she doesn't have the faintest idea why she's made it so long.

Fry was born December 1, 1893, and can remember the assassination of President William McKinley in 1901. She also attended Hanover College and currently walks a flight of stairs to go to exercise class at least twice a week, despite failing eyesight and hearing. Fry's secret to longevity...eating right and exercising!
