(MUNCIE) - A Ball State economist is offering his thoughts on the future of Indiana’s economy in 2007.

Professor Patrick Barkey directs the Miller College of Business' Economic and Policy studies. He expects the number of jobs in Indiana to increase next year, but at a slower rate than other states.

The economist says Indiana must shift its economic focus from manufacturing goods to providing profitable services. Indiana college graduates are attracted to other states that are making that shift, causing a so-called "brain drain."
