Retail Group Asking For Alcohol Changes
(UNDATED) - A new statewide coalition of retail trade associations and drug, grocery and convenience store companies is proposing changes to Indiana’s alcohol laws.
The Alliance of Responsible Alcohol Retailers says it will begin a public education campaign to build support for proposals to control underage access to alcohol and end market-share turf battles.
The coalition is calling for giving the authority to conduct compliance checks to the alcohol and tobacco commission, strengthening of the penalties for adults that give alcohol to minors, setting a definition of a grocery store which can sell beer and wine and reducing the number of grocery store alcohol permits by more than 25%.
