(INDIANAPOLIS) - A new initiative to get Hoosiers to keep track of their personal health records is underway.

IUPUI is encouraging people to document their medical histories, saying the information will allow patients to receive safer and more effective treatments.

A personal health record can also help Hoosiers save money by keeping doctors from performing duplicate tests.

IUPUI Professor Ruth Walker co-chairs the Indiana Health Information Management Association and says you should document your blood type, allergies, and medications. You can begin the process by logging onto www.myprh.com.
