Indiana Honda Plant Begins Construction
(GREENSBURG) - Construction crews are clearing the way for a $550-million Honda assembly plant just northwest of Greensburg.
Honda North America Spokesperson David Iida says more than 60 pieces of equipment are being used on the 1,700 acre site to get the area ready for construction. Two teams are working ten hour shifts, clearing debris, building temporary roads and laying pipes. Major foundation work is scheduled to begin in early 2007.
Honda expects to eventually hire two thousand permanent workers and produce 200-thousand vehicles annually at the site.
