Hoosier County Discount Drug Cards
(UNDATED) - An increasing number of Indiana counties are signing up for a program which allows their citizens to receive discounted drugs.
Seven counties currently participate in a program sponsored by the Association of Indiana counties which provides free cards to people, allowing them access to low-cost pharmaceuticals. Morgan County's program came on-line Monday and AIC executive director David Bottorff says the number of participating counties will jump to 11 by the end of February.
The cards are available free of charge to every resident of a registered county and come at a relatively low cost to county government. Bottorff says each county must pay dues to keep the privilege each year, but those dues usually don't exceed a thousand dollars. The discounts can also be extended to some pet medications, as well.
Bottorff says citizens who'd like to be included should contact their county commissioners and ask them to get in touch with the Association of Indiana Counties for more information.
