(UNDATED) - The state has hired a group of collection agencies to pursue tax evaders.
This comes after the state ended a temporary amnesty period in June allowing delinquent taxpayers to rectify old debts without paying penalties or interest or facing prosecution.
Governor Daniels says the new efforts will not only collect more revenue but will add new taxpayers to Indiana's rolls and ensure the state's records are up-to-date.
